JGD project profile
SNBTS Blood Donor Centre

JGD District Heating was appointed to deliver specialist steam network infrastructure for the Aberdeen Blood Donor Centre in Scotland, following selection as an experienced specialist contractor.
This facility provides critical healthcare services, so the reliability and long-term performance of its infrastructure is vital.
JGD worked closely with key project stakeholders throughout the design, planning, and delivery phases of a new steam network engineered to serve the facility for years into the future. The installation utilises specialist heavy-grade, pre-insulated steel pipework chosen to suit the network’s operating parameters.
Steam networks require a particularly high level of installation control. For this project, pipework was installed to a 1:100 fall to maintain the required gradient throughout the system. The specialist nature of steam installations, and the consequences of defects, means that relatively few heat network contractors will undertake this type of work. JGD was chosen for its specialist capability, and delivered the installation in full compliance with the project requirements, ensuring the completed network met its design obligations.
